Women in Aviation - Blanche Scott

106 years ago Blanche Scott became the first woman in the United States to make a solo flight in a biplane when she flew to Lake Keuka, Hammondsport, New York.  She was the only woman to receive flight instruction at Hammondsport, NY directly from Glenn Curtiss,  the American aviation pioneer and a founder of the U.S. aircraft industry. Scott later became the first woman to fly in a jet aircraft when she accompanied Chuck Yeager in a Lockheed TF-80C.
